Scholarship Overview
The Hong Kong Government is now accepting applications for the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme 2025 for study in Hong Kong. The Fellowship Scheme, administered by the Research Grants Council, offers 300 PhD positions at top-ranked universities in Hong Kong to international students from around the world. Note for Students who have done a Bachelors degree can also apply for a direct Ph.D. Program. Both the Master’s/MPhil and Bachelor’s degree holders can apply for this Fellowship. The Fellowship provides an annual stipend of HK$325,200 (approximately US$41,690) and a conference and research-related travel allowance of HK$13,600 (approximately US$1,740) per year for each awardee for a period up to three years. 300 PhD Fellowships will be awarded in the 2024/25 academic year. There is no IELTS Requirement during online apply as well as applicants are not required to submit application fee.

How to Apply
The RGC does not charge any application fee for the (HKPFS). However, universities may charge application or other processing fees.

Initial Application: Fill out and submit the Initial Application form to Research Grants Council before 1 December 2024.
Full Applications: After submitting the initial application, apply to your selected PhD programs at the proposed universities using your HKPFS Reference Number. Adhere to each university’s deadline (1 December 2024).
